Nice practice although very busy. Ve have always seen Dr Capen who always seems very friendly and caring and has the best bedside manner ive ever experienced from a doctor.
I'm one of Dr. Capen's patients and have been for over 14 years. I believe he's in his late 40s, but he practices medicine in the older style, which is to develop and invest in genuine doctor-patient relationships. I'm not aware of any other doctor in this area who does anything resembling the relationships he has with his patients. He routinely runs behind schedule, and the reason for that is good for patients : He will take as much time in your appointment as you need. Think of it like this: The best things in life are worth waiting for. Being his patient means waiting a while for the appointment to begin. But nearly all of Dr. Capen's patients, at least the ones I've encountered, are very loyal and grateful. That's why his schedule continuously remains full. If you know going into it that Dr. Capen will not be on schedule, and you accept that the waiting time is well worth trading for a top-quality doctor's appointment, then plan accordingly. Make your appointment with him for a date and time when you won't have any other appointments and, later, after you've made your appointment with him, be careful not to schedule anything else close in time to your appointment with him. Specifically, if you have an afternoon appointment, don't plan anything else for that afternoon. If you have a morning appointment, don't plan anything else for that morning (or, if it's a late-morning appt, don't plan anything from then thru early afternoon...you get the idea). Don't plan to be out of there in 30-60 minutes after your appointment time. You may not even be taken to an examination room within 60 minutes after checking in. Bring something with you to pass the time. When I go to an appointment with him, check in, and sit down in the waiting room, I pull out a book or laptop computer or smartphone, and I pass the time with one or more of those. If you want strictly on-time service, akin to train schedules, or if you want medical care at a drive-through/fast-food level of quality, don't make an appointment here (I say this last part selfishly, because his loyal patients, of which I am one, don't really care to hear complainers in the waiting room). That type of appointment is available from doc-in-a-box, off-hours medical clinics at shopping malls. But if you want a genuine doctor-patient relationship, in which your doctor actually cares about you and goes the extra mile, and you want the confidence of knowing all of your questions will be answered in a patient, compassionate way, then Dr. Capen is your go-to primary care physician in Greenfield, Indiana. Be grateful there is still at least one physician on earth who listens, genuinely cares, and willingly takes as much time as needed.
Dr. Laura rife is an excellent doctor. I've never been a fan of doctors but she is very friendly, gentle and caring. She has helped me so much in just my first visit. I'm glad I found a doctor who is compassionate about her patients and actually takes time to understand the problem.
This is the worst practice I have ever been to. Be prepared to wait at least 2 hours after your appointment time EVERY time you go. My advise, go somewhere else.
