So, am I happy with this bank? Not particularly, as banks go. We even got the esteemed honor of being charged $15 a month for our previously free account, because my husband doesn't make enough money to keep the average balance high enough, or work for a company that provides direct payroll deposit, like so many BIG companies can afford to do. The little guy gets stiffed again. Apparently direct deposits from the Government don't even qualify, since I have been on Disability for over three (almost four) years, and my check goes in directly from the Government. But that's not good enough for a BIG bank to allow.
Have been banking here since many years before the "merger - buy-out" of National City Bank. Many of the features and benefits of National City Bank were eliminated over time, such as accumulation of Points by using a regular debit card for purchases at almost every store you could shop in. And that was quite valuable to me, as I used those points for buying Christmas gifts, and even got myself a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer, completely free - we didn't even pay for shipping! But, that was obviously MUCH too expensive a service to maintain for a multi-billion dollar bank, since they had much more important things to spend their money on, like shareholder's dividends and multi-million dollar bonuses, and "Golden Parachute" clauses, to CEOs, and COOs, and all the other "Chairmen of This and That" that just worked SO hard for their multi-million dollar salaries. Not at all like the regular working man, who had to earn his $40,000 a year salary, or even less, by the blood, sweat, and tears of his labors.
As for their personal service, we don't have too many complaints, as we deal with the same people most of the time - at least my husband does, since he's the one who must drive to the bank every Friday - and our requirements are limited as to how things must be managed. So far, over the last few years, everything has been OK in that respect, so this "less than five star rating" doesn't reflect on that level. Only on a corporate level.
